sea + sun = pure water, zero impact.
We are building the first solar-powered desalination platform for water-stressed communities across Mexico and Latin America. Starting in Loreto, where the sea is pristine, the sun is abundant, and clean water is long overdue.
Why Loreto
Baja California Sur is one of the sunniest regions on earth. Solar-powered desalination thrives here in a way it simply cannot in most places. The energy is free, abundant, and arrives every single day.
Loreto sits directly on the Sea of Cortez. The raw material for clean water is literally on the doorstep of every community we aim to serve. Jacques Cousteau called it the aquarium of the world.
The Sea of Cortez demands the highest environmental standards. Our technology criteria are built around protecting it — not compromising it. Zero impact is not aspirational here. It is required.
marH₂O Loreto is the first chapter. Every community that follows carries its own name and its own story.

About marH₂O
marH₂O was not born in a laboratory or a boardroom. It was born from a simple and urgent observation. Latin America is facing a water crisis that is growing faster than the solutions being offered to address it. Someone needed to start building something different. This is that attempt.
The founder
"I am not a water engineer. I am someone who looked at Latin America's water future and decided that was not good enough."
My background is in business and entrepreneurship. I have spent my career building things, understanding markets, and finding the right people to solve problems worth solving. Water scarcity across Mexico and Latin America is one of those problems. Not someday. Now.
What drew me to Loreto specifically was the extraordinary alignment of conditions. A pristine UNESCO-protected biosphere sitting directly on the Sea of Cortez. More than 300 days of sunshine every year. A resilient community that deserves better than water trucks and plastic bottles. And a new generation of solar-powered desalination technology that makes zero environmental impact not just possible but achievable.
I do not pretend to have all the answers. What I have is a clear vision, a serious commitment, and the humility to know that the right team will make this real in a way that no single person ever could. I am here to build that team and that company from the ground up.
Join the founding team
The most important work in any company happens before most people show up. We are looking for a small number of exceptional people who want to help shape what marH₂O becomes — people who bring deep expertise and a genuine belief that water security and environmental stewardship are not competing goals.
Someone who understands desalination, solar thermal systems, and water infrastructure at a technical level. Ideally based in or deeply connected to Baja California Sur. Your expertise shapes the feasibility study and every technology decision that follows.
Someone who knows the Sea of Cortez intimately and can ensure that every decision we make protects the ecosystem we depend on. Your voice is not a constraint on this project. It is one of its most important foundations.
Someone who understands how to work with Mexican federal agencies, municipal governments, and local communities. CONAGUA, SEMARNAT, and the people of Loreto all need to be partners in this.
Someone who understands how impact infrastructure gets funded. Development banks, ESG investors, APP structures, and blended finance. Water infrastructure is a serious asset class and this project deserves serious financial architecture.
Communities come first. Always.
The ocean is not a resource. It is a responsibility.
Solutions that actually get built and actually work.
This is not just a business. It is a calling.

We are not posting job listings. We are looking for founding team members who believe in this mission as much as we do.
Technology vision
Loreto is not just any location. It is a UNESCO-protected biosphere, one of the most ecologically significant marine environments on earth. The technology we deploy here must meet an extraordinary standard. We are not looking for the least harmful option. We are looking for a genuinely regenerative one.
The challenge
Traditional reverse osmosis desalination plants consume enormous amounts of grid electricity, rely on toxic chemical pre-treatment, and discharge highly concentrated brine into the ocean. In most locations that trade-off is accepted. In the Sea of Cortez — which Jacques Cousteau called the aquarium of the world — it is simply not acceptable.
Technology partner criteria
These are the minimum viable standards for operating responsibly inside a UNESCO-protected biosphere. We are actively evaluating partners whose systems meet every one of these requirements.
Our commitments
The Sea of Cortez is a living, irreplaceable ecosystem. No discharge that harms it will ever be acceptable under the marH₂O name.
Every litre of water we produce must be powered by the sun. No fossil fuel dependency at any point in the process.
Clean water must be affordable for the communities we serve. Commercial viability and community access are not competing goals here.
Why Loreto is optimal
Baja California Sur receives some of the highest solar irradiance levels anywhere in the world. A solar thermal desalination system deployed here operates at or near maximum theoretical efficiency for the majority of the year. Combined with direct coastal access to the Sea of Cortez and a clear and urgent community water need, Loreto represents one of the most compelling deployment environments for next-generation solar desalination technology anywhere in Latin America.
Technology partner invitation
We are conducting an active technology partner evaluation as part of our investment-grade feasibility study. We are looking for a company whose values, technology, and vision align with everything described on this page. Not just a vendor relationship. A genuine partnership built around a shared mission.
Contact marH₂O
We are not collecting leads. We are looking for the right people. If our mission resonates with yours — whether you are a potential co-founder, technology partner, investor, community leader, or someone who simply believes clean water matters — we want to hear from you.
Who we want to hear from
Water technologists, marine biologists, environmental scientists, and regulatory specialists with deep roots in Baja California Sur or Latin America. This is a founding opportunity, not a job posting.
Companies whose solar-powered desalination technology meets the ten specifications published on our Technology page. We are conducting an active partner evaluation and welcome a technical conversation.
ESG funds, development banks, and impact investors who understand that water infrastructure in underserved communities is both a moral imperative and a sound long-term investment.
Municipal leaders, state officials, community organisations, and NGOs in Baja California Sur and beyond who want to be part of solving the water crisis from the ground up.
